Surface preparation we do
Weld inspections are only as good as the surface being inspected. Paint, rust, mill scale, oxide and spatter can hide cracks, porosity and undercut.

Machinery and equipment
For machinery covered in mud, grease and grime, we run a 3000W pressure cleaner so it’s clean to inspect and service. For rust, coatings or areas that can’t take water, laser cleaning may be the better option. Laser cleaning does not repair corrosion damage or replace lost metal, and fragile parts, existing finishes and the final coating requirements need to be assessed before work. Laser cleaning uses Class 4 equipment, so site access, exclusion zones and safety controls are planned for every job.

What NDT methods do you prepare surfaces for?
We clean welds and parent metal before visual, dye penetrant, magnetic particle and ultrasonic testing. Tell us the inspection method and any surface requirements from your inspector or procedure.
Why use laser instead of grinding or blasting before inspection?
Grinding or abrasive blasting can smear metal over fine defects and remove base material. Laser cleaning lifts off the coating and contamination and leaves the underlying metal intact, so welds and parent metal are ready for inspection.
Can you remove heat tint from stainless steel welds?
Yes. We remove post-weld heat tint and oxide from stainless steel welds. Send photos and the grade or finish required so we can discuss the job.
Can you clean machinery that is covered in mud and grease?
For caked-on mud, grease and grime on machinery and equipment, our pressure cleaning service is usually the right tool. For rust, paint, coatings or areas that can’t take water, laser cleaning may suit better.
